Job Description:
Oakton has one opening beginning with the Winter 2009-10 season for an Assistant Women's Basketball Coach. Assists in all daily operations of the intercollegiate Women's Basketball program. Must be available afternoons and some weekends during the Winter season.
Coaches are considered part-time faculty. Part-time faculty and coaches are paid on a lecture hour equivalents (LHE) basis. The LHE is an attempt to equate the work performed as a coach to that of classroom faculty. All part-time faculty start at the beginning pay rates, regardless of the level and type of experience obtained elsewhere. Those rates are $825/LHE for those without doctorates and $855/LHE for those with doctorates.
Part-time faculty advance one step within the salary schedule with the successful completion of 2 fall & spring semesters where 3+ credit hours are taught in each semester.
Requirements:
Playing and coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level is preferred. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning and leadership skills and a positive role model for young adults is expected. Experience working with club teams, travel teams, AAU, and other organizations in the north suburbs strongly desired. Class "A" drivers license also preferred. A Bachelor's degree in physical education, sports administration, recreation, exercise physiology or related field is preferred. Knowledge of NJCAA/NCAA rules and regulations is a plus. Two basketball references required.
