Job Description:
Oakton is looking for qualified part-time World Wide Web faculty for the Spring 2010 semester to teach Flash and Web Scripting. Flash introduces the Flash authoring environment and basic features and functions of the Flash application, to create high-impact Web sites. Content includes activities using the program's tools and modifiers, color capabilities, text formatting; sound importing methods; and bitmap capabilities.

Web Scripting combines hands-on activities and lectures to increase familiarity with developing web applications with JavaScript, PHP, XML, or other contemporary web language. Content includes enhancing web pages using interactive features; manipulating built-in objects; and validating and processing forms.

Part-time faculty are paid on a lecture hour equivalents (LHE) basis. For most courses, the LHE is the same as a credit hour. For others, the LHE represents additional work for teaching the class, such as grading papers for Composition classes or teaching a class with a laboratory section (computers, languages, and the sciences); in those cases, the LHE represents a figure higher than the credit hour. All part-time faculty start at the beginning pay rates, regardless of the level and type of experience obtained elsewhere. Those rates are $825/LHE for those without doctorates and $855/LHE for those with doctorates.

Part-time faculty advance one step within the salary schedule with the successful completion of 2 fall & spring semesters where 3+ credit hours are taught in each semester.

Preferred qualifications include a master's degree in a computer-related discipline, additional work experience in the computing and/or Internet fields, and prior college teaching experience.
