Job Description:
Oakton is looking for qualified part-time Fire Science faculty for the Spring 2010 semester to teach the EMT-B course. Emergency Medical Technician - Basic EMT-B studies the duties performed by emergency medical technicians-basic. Contents include human body anatomy, vital signs, ventilation, cardiac emergencies, resuscitation, automated external defibrillation, pharmacology, bleeding and shock, fractures, injuries, childbirth, lifting and moving of patients, legal and ethical issues.
Requirements:
A bachelor's degree, a minimum of one year of relevant EMT experience, and Fire Service Instructor II certification are required. Preferred qualifications include additional EMT experience, and prior college teaching experience.

Part-time faculty are hired on a semester-by-semester basis. A reasonable effort is made to assure the assignment of courses to more senior part-time faculty who are fully qualified by virtue of their education, training, work experience as related to current technology and pedagogical techniques, and who have had a history of successful performance at Oakton Community College.
All assignments are conditioned on sufficient enrollment. Once a course starts, the part time faculty member is expected to complete the course.
