Job Description:

  • Supervise and facilitate the appropriate teaching techniques for academic students in regards to integration of Early Childhood Education theories with practical application. Evaluate the performance of academic students through written and verbal communication. Plan and implement classroom curriculum and environment of preschool children and support staff in a team environment as a co-teacher.
  • Develop and maintain an appropriate physical and emotional environment by meeting the established standards of the Early Childhood Development Academic Program, the NAEYC Academy Accreditation Program, and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
  • Assume responsibility for the health and safety of academic students, children enrolled, and volunteers during field trips and in conjunction with site coordinator during emergency situations.
  • Schedule and implement classroom orientation procedures for children and parents, students, and volunteers. Coordinate ongoing individual child and group assessments, conduct parent teacher conferences and home visits.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with academic students, college faculty, staff, community volunteers and classroom families. Maintain confidentiality of families' and of children's records.
  • Participate in Early Childhood Education program's professional and marketing activities including: meetings, conferences, in-services, family events, recruitment and community outreach. Represent the child care program in the college and in the community-at-large.
  • Assume administrative responsibilities for the Early Childhood Development Center in the absence of the Site Coordinator.

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or an Associate Degree in a related field with a minimum of 35 college credits earned from among the following courses in ECE are required:
    • Child Growth and Development - Observation and Assessment of the Young Child - Introduction to Early Childhood Education - The Exceptional Child - Math and Science for the Young Child - Curriculum Design for Early Childhood Programs - Guidance of the Young Child - Health, Safety, and Nutrition for the Young Child -  Play and Creative Expression for the Young Child - Language Arts and Social Studies for the Young Child - Child, Family, and Community Relations - Multicultural Perspectives in Early Childhood Education

Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred. 

  • Three years experience teaching in early childhood education is required.
  • First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
  • Food service sanitation certificate preferred.


Additional Information:

SALARY: $39,671 annually  
HOURS: Monday - Friday, 8:15 am - 5:00 pm
